Just Cry

It doesn’t seem like i will get to writing a ‘proper’ blog post this week. Even though i promised myself that i will put something up on Wed/Thur of every week.

You see, i took a mental health day this week. I define a mental health day as a day i give myself permission to just cry, to feel bad, to admit that i am unhappy, frustrated, sad, defeated (by one thing or sometimes everything)…then before the day is over, i make myself talk to God about all this things and ask him to give me perspective, to lift up my head. Crying is very important on mental health days.

Its an open secret that i am presently consumed by Mandisa’s music (or maybe more precisely her song-writers). And its not just her music, she has an amazing life-story . I am absolutely taken by her. Overcoming multiple challenges ranging from sexual abuse to destructive habits, she has lost over 120 pounds. And through therapy, prayer and a lot of hard work is far along on the journey into the free and abundant living that Jesus promises us. Every word of her songs rings true to me; continuing to inspire/revive/heal/restore my perspective often in the dead of the night. God spoke to me through the words of her song this week; and i fervently thanked God for her as i cried my heart out to him.

PS – A friend of mine shared a formulae for downloading you-tube videos. If you are like me and want to have Mandisa’s you-tubed music with you wherever you go. Here is a useful link. \'Free You-tube Downloader\'

Why you gotta act so strong
Go ahead and take off your brave face
Why you tellin me that nothin’s wrong
It’s obvious your not in a good place
Who’s tellin you to keep it all inside
And never let those feelings
Get past the corner of your eye

You don’t need to run
You don’t need to speak
Baby take some time
Let those prayers roll down your cheek
It maybe tomorrow
You’ll be past the sorrow
But tonight it’s alright
Just cry

I know you know your Sunday songs
A dozen verse by memory
Yeah they’re good but life is hard
And days get long
You gotta know God can handle your honesty
So feel the things your feeling

And a sadness, loneliness and anger
Let it out, let it out

You don’t need to run
You don’t need to speak
Baby take some time
Let those prayers roll down your cheek
It maybe tomorrow
You’ll be past the sorrow
But tonight it’s alright

Just cry
Just cry

It doesn’t mean you don’t trust him
It doesn’t mean you don’t believe
It doesn’t mean you don’t know
He’s redeeming everything

You don’t need to run
You don’t need to speak
Baby take some time
Let those prayers roll down your cheek
It maybe tomorrow
You’ll be past the sorrow
But tonight it’s alright
But tonight it’s alright

Just cry

Why you gotta act so strong
Go ahead and take off your brave face
